Volkswagen AG’s Skoda unit will take the wraps off a concept of its upcoming electric vehicle—a crossover with coupe-like styling—at next month’s Shanghai auto show.
The production model will be Skoda’s first all-electric vehicle. The car will ride on VW’s new MEB electric vehicle platform and is expected to be launched around 2020. Skoda’s first hybrid, a plug-in variant of the Superb hatchback, is due in 2019.
Skoda this week released a darkened teaser image of the concept, which has a profile similar to the brand’s Kodiaq large crossover/SUV. Company officials previously have described the upcoming EV as being “packed with technology and really emotional.”
