Volkswagen AG's Skoda unit denies a report by India's Business Standard that it will trim future investment plans in India because of unfavorable regulatory and tax rules in the country.

Skoda insists it remains committed to India and won't reduce investment plans there. The brand is VW group's first to enter the Indian market in 2001.

Skoda currently makes vehicles at two plants in India. It makes the Rapid small sedan at VW's plant in Chakan, Pune. It builds the Octavia small sedan, Superb midsize sedan and Yeti small crossover at a facility in Aurangabad, Maharashtra.
