Plymouth, Mich.-based Rivian Automotive LLC plans to take the wraps off its first two all-electric premium offerings—a pickup truck and crossover vehicle—at the Los Angeles auto show next month.
Rivian describes the platform that will carry both models as a “premium adventure” architecture that combines utility, performance and efficiency. The vehicles also will feature unspecified connectivity and autonomous driving systems.
The pickup truck will seat five people, while the SUV will accommodate seven. Both models will be built at the former Mitsubishi Motors Corp. manufacturing plant in Normal, Ill., which Rivian purchased in early 2017.
The secretive company said in May that it expects to introduce its first models in 2020.
