Gardner Business Media President Delivers Op-Ed on Manufacturing During Coronavirus

Share

(Cincinnati, Ohio) An opinion piece by Gardner Business Media President, Rick Kline, Jr. was featured by the Wall Street Journal on March 31st, 2020. The Op-Ed discusses how American manufacturers are producing needed equipment to help aid in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

The appearance of this piece marks the Journal's recognition that the coronavirus crisis focuses attention on, among other things, our nation's conflicted regard for manufacturing. Right now, attention must be on meeting the immediate manufacturing need. As the piece describes, manufacturers are rising to this challenge, with or without a directive from Washington.

“American manufacturing is nimble and strong,” says Kline. “An event like the coronavirus is putting the industry to the test, but the solidarity and ingenuity of our nation’s makers is still shining through.”

Kline’s piece explains that the next step will have to be consolidating the lessons from COVID-19, and ensuring that US manufacturing is prepared to again respond to the next crisis that comes. Before manufacturers can be compelled to quickly produce, they must be allowed to have the ability to do so.
