Hyundai Motor Co. plans to add production of its Kona and Tucson SUV/crossover vehicles at its plant in Montgomery, Ala. by 2021, sources tell the Seoul Economic Daily.

The factory also is expected to add a new pickup truck model at about the same time. The facility currently makes Elantra and Sonata sedans and the Santa Fe SUV.

To enable the addition of two more SUVs, Hyundai would need to expand the Alabama plant’s capacity to 450,000 vehicles per year from the current 380,000 units, according to the report. Hyundai denies any plan to expand capacity in the U.S. and refuses to comment on specific future production plans.

Hyundai’s sales in the U.S. are down 13% this year in an overall market that has declined 2%, according to Autodata Corp. Analysts say Hyundai continues to struggle with a car-heavy lineup in a market that is clamoring for trucks and crossovers.
