Renault SA now expects its worldwide sales to grow 1% in 2015, half the rate it previously forecast. The company blames slumping markets in Russia and South America and a lower expansion rate for car sales in China.
Renault's passenger and light-truck sales in the first half of 2015 advanced 0.7% to 1.38 million units as growth in the company's traditional European markets offset declining demand elsewhere. Europe represented 62% of total volume in January-June compared with 57% in the same period last year.
Renault predicts its just-introduced Kadjar SUV/crossover and upcoming Talisman sedan will help bolster sales in Europe. The company also is preparing to roll out its Espace minivan and low-priced Kwid sedan in India to improve sales in that market.
