Renault Sales, Earnings Surge

The company’s operating income last year surged 51% to €3.3 billion ($3.5 billion). Renault did not release full financial details for the October-December period.
Renault reports market share gains in all regions. The company’s new-car registrations gained most strongly in Europe (+12% to 1.81 million), Africa-Middle East-India (+36% to 491,200) and Asia Pacific (+35% to 167,400). Volume advanced 2% to 364,500 units in Eurasia and was flat in the Americas at 354,400 vehicles.
Global demand for new cars will expand by about 2% this year, the company predicts. Renault expects markets to grow 2% in Europe, 5% in China and 8% in India.
