The production version of BMW AG’s next-generation Z4 roadster retains much of the styling—albeit toned down—of last year’s concept model.
The production version of BMW AG’s next-generation Z4 roadster retains much of the styling—albeit toned down—of last year’s concept model.
Official photos of the 2019-model were leaked online this week ahead of the car’s planned introduction on August 23 in Pebble Beach, Calif. The photos show the Z4’s M40i luxury performance model.
Exterior design highlights include a sporty front fascia, sweptback headlights, front fender vents, five-spoke wheels and exposed blue brake calipers.
The Z4’s signature long hood flows into a rakish windshield.
The rear features a short trunk with an integrated spoiler, narrow taillights and dual exhaust system. Other goodies include a ventilated rear bumper and diffuser with metallic accents.
The high-tech interior sports a digital instrument cluster reminiscent of the one used in the new 8 Series coupe. A retractable panel in the center console houses a wireless smartphone charger, small storage area and a USB port.
Engine choices are expected to include a twin-turbo 3.0-liter inline-six that BMW describes as “extremely powerful.” The carmaker also has said the new Z4 will have a locking rear differential and a lowered sports suspension with electronically controlled dampers.
