PSA Group plans to introduce 15 plug-in hybrid and all-electric vehicles by 2021 as part of the company’s previously announced plan to offer electrified variants of all its vehicles by 2025.
The initiative includes the carmaker’s DS, Citroen, Peugeot and Opel/Vauxhall brands, starting next year with the all-electric DS 3 Crossback E Tense variant (pictured). A pair of modular platforms—the LMP2 for large cars and SUVs and the CMP for smaller models—will be used for the electrified vehicles.
PSA predicts a tenfold increase in global sales of EVs and plug-in hybrids to 10 million units by 2025. China is expected to account for nearly half the volume, followed by Europe (3.6 million units) and the U.S. (1.7 million).
PSA formed a Low Emission Vehicles unit in April to oversee its electrification efforts. To keep costs down, the company plans to commonize more parts across vehicles and brands.
