PSA Group is the latest major carmaker to announce plans to offer electrified powertrain in all its cars and light trucks.
CEO Carlos Tavares says PSA will offer optional battery or hybrid systems worldwide by 2025 in its Citroen, DS, Opel, Peugeot and Vauxhall brands. The carmaker also intends to debut 224 new models worldwide over the next six years.
PSA’s business philosophy favors agility over size, particularly in today’s chaotic marketplace, Tavares tells the Automotive News World Congress in Detroit.
He adds that 80% of PSA vehicles will have some capability to drive themselves under certain conditions by 2030. About 10% of the company’s fleet will have level 4 or level 5 autonomy by then, thus giving them the ability to operate automatically under most or all conditions.
PSA’s business philosophy favors agility over size, particularly in today’s chaotic marketplace. Tavares reiterates the company’s goal is to return to the U.S. car market by 2026. Between now and then, PSA is testing mobility services in the country to help assess consumer tastes.
