PSA Group plans to eliminate nearly 3% of its French workforce, or 2,100 jobs, next year, according to France Info radio, which cites PSA internal documents.
The cuts, which include reductions at the company’s Faurecia components affiliate, will be achieved through early retirements and voluntary buyouts, according to the report. Info radio says the plan was prompted by weak diesel sales and uncertainty about the impact of the U.K.’s decision to exit the European Union.
The report says PSA has trimmed about 17,000 jobs over the past three years after nearly collapsing in 2014. The company, in which the French state holds a 14% stake, currently employs about 78,300 people in the country.
