PSA Peugeot Citroen says a 24% jump in demand for its cars in China has prompted the company to boost its full-year forecast for the market by about 50,000 units.
PSA's joint venture with Dongfeng Motor Group Co. sold 343,200 vehicles in January-June compared with 277,000 units in the same period last year.
The company previously said it expected to sell more than 650,000 vehicles in China this year. Now it is targeting 700,000 units. The Dongfeng-PSA venture currently operates three assembly plants with combined capacity to make 750,000 units annually.
