Porsche AG CO Oliver Blume tells Automotive News Europe that all-electric models will capture a “significant double-digit” share of the brand’s global sales by 2025.
Blume said early last year that Porsche also will offer hybrid versions of all its models eventually. He suggests the brand’s mix of piston, hybrid and all-electric powertrains will vary by market and customer demand.
Porsche is spending €1 billion to develop the Mission E, a coupelike electric four-door that will establish a sixth product line for the brand when it debuts in 2009. The car is expected to have a range of 500 km (310 miles) per charge.
Last month Porsche predicted annual sales of about 20,000 units for the Model E, which was shown in concept in 2015 at the Frankfurt auto show. Bloom says market reception will determine whether Porsche adds another EV in the next decade.
He asserts that the company remains focused on sustaining a high profit margin (17.4% in the third quarter last year) and continuing a pace of 6% annual gains in manufacturing productivity.
