Pope Francis is using a fleet of six Fiat 500L small economy cars to get from appointment to appointment during his multi-state U.S. tour this week.
The Vatican says the pontiff is using the little sedans to make a point about climate change and to underscore his belief that church leaders should avoid the trappings of luxury. Observers note his point is especially vivid in the U.S., where his security motorcade is full of large American-made SUVs.
The 500Ls won't be the pope's only vehicles this week, however. He also will ride through crowds in a modified white Jeep.
