Police in China have arrested a woman accused of posing as a BYD Co. executive who for three years ordered but didn’t pay for company advertising.
Li Juan, along with several others, are suspected of posing as BYD executives and signing contracts with a forged BYD seal, the Shanghai Daily reports. It isn’t clear if police also have detained Li’s associates.
The group rented office space in Shanghai’s International Finance Center, according to BYD. It says Li presented herself as the electric-car company’s local marketing department general manager.
One local ad agency, Jingzhipr, tells the Shanghai Daily that over the past three years it has arranged outdoor advertising and conducted test drives for BYD thru Li’s office.
