Volvo Car Corp.’s Polestar electric vehicle unit plans to launch its third model, a sporty SUV/crossover, in late 2021.
The all-electric Polestar 3 crossover vehicle will feature coupe-like styling, Chief Operating Officer Jonathan Goodman tells Digital Trends. The new model will be slotted between the $155,000 Polestar 1 hybrid coupe and upcoming Polestar 2 electric sport sedan, which is expected to start below $40,000 when it bows next year.
Goodman confirms that all future Polestar models will be pure EVs. The Polestar 1, which launches this summer, will be the brand’s only hybrid vehicle.
The carmaker unveiled the Polestar 2 EV last month ahead of the Geneva auto show. That car is powered by two electric motors that generate a combined 408 hp and 487 lb-ft of torque. Driving range for the model is estimated at 500 km (310 miles).
