Automobili Pininfarina has named its upcoming electric hypercar the Battista after the founder of the legendary Italian design house.
The sleek two-seater, which had been codenamed the PF0, is due to launch by late 2020. Production will be limited to 150 units, with pricing expected to start at more than $2 million.
Built around a carbon-fiber monocoque, the Battista will be powered by four electric motors that generate a combined 1,900 hp and nearly 1,700 lb-ft of torque. Pininfarina estimates the car will have a top speed of more than 250 mph and be capable of driving 300 miles between charges.
Battista 'Pinin' Farina founded the Carrozzeria Pininfarina coachbuilding company in 1930. His grandson Paulo Pininfarina is the chairman of Pininfarina SpA, which was acquired by India’s Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. in 2015. Automobili Pininfarina was launched as a stand-alone EV company earlier this year.
