The zoomy midsize five-seater won’t go into production in the U.S. until at least the end of next year. And some orders have come in from markets that aren’t likely to receive the Model 3 for some time thereafter.
Tesla promises a 215-mile range for the car and says it will come equipped with some features, including limited self-driving capabilities, from its $79,000 Model S sibling. But the carmaker but has released few other details about the new EV.
The Model 3’s range is about twice that of electrics currently on the market. But General Motors Co. plans to introduce its similarly priced and more conventionally styled Chevrolet Bolt EV sedan in October. The Bolt also boasts a 200-miles range.
