General Motors Co.'s Opel unit has appointed Duncan Aldred as acting sales and marketing chief to replace Alfred Rieck, who resigned after six months in the job.
Aldred, who is chairman and managing director of Opel's Vauxhall brand, will add the additional duties immediately.
The company hired Rieck in July from Volkswagen AG, where he was president of the Skoda brand's Chinese operations.
GM is widely expected to hire Rieck's former boss, Karl-Thomas Neumann as Opel CEO as early as next week. Neumann headed VW's China unit until last August. If hired, he would be Opel's fifth CEO in just over three years. The unit also has gone through a series of CFOs, sales chiefs and R&D managers.
