Nissan Motor Co. has stopped making a hybrid version of its Pathfinder crossover vehicle after only 16 months because of poor demand, Automotive News reports.
Nissan continues to make a variant, the Infiniti QS60 Hybrid, at its plant in Smyrna, Tenn. But most of those models are shipped to foreign markets, according to the company. Nissan has been selling off remaining inventories of the Pathfinder hybrid since production stopped in January.
AN notes the hybrid Pathfinder cost about $3,000 more than a standard model and offered only about 4 mpg better fuel economy.
