Porsche AG’s first all-electric sports car will be called Taycan when it debuts in 2019.

The carmaker plans to unveil the Taycan (pronounced “tie-con”) later this year. The all-new four-seater will be a production version of the Mission E concept unveiled by the carmaker three years ago.

The Taycan will be powered by two electric motors that generate a combined 600 hp and can accelerate the vehicle from zero to 60 mph in “well-under” 3.5 seconds, Porsche boasts.

The car is expected to have a driving range of more than 300 miles of range on the European cycle. Porsche says the Taycan’s battery can be replenished to 80% capacity in 15 minutes via an 800-volt, 350-kW charging system that the company plans to install at dealerships and partner locations in the U.S.

A crossover variant, which bowed in concept form at this year’s Geneva auto show, is expected to launch in 2021.
