Miami-based CarCharging Group Inc., which describes itself as America's largest operator of electric vehicle charging stations, says it will seek a patent for a system that can manage multiple EV hookups to a single power source.

By toggling from one to another as each EV's battery is charged, the system can boost the number of vehicles serviced without straining the energy source. The station also can delay charging to off-peak times, according to the company.

CarCharging acquired Blink Network and its 12,600 installed Level II and DC fast-charge stations for $3.3 million in mid-October, bringing the company's network to 13,000 charging points in 35 states and three countries.
