Tesla Inc. CEO Elon Musk says the company will introduce a full-size electric pickup truck early in the next decade.
Musk says the new truck is likely to include an undisclosed “really game-changing” feature he wants to add. Earlier this year he indicated the truck would be unveiled in concept form within 24 months.
Tesla’s current all-electric lineup consists of two sedans, the midsize Model S and recently launched compact Model 3, and the Model X midsize crossover vehicle.
Musk says the pickup will follow the Model Y, a smaller electric crossover due in mid-2019. Tesla also expects to add an ultra-high-performance sports car in 2020 and the Semi Class 8 highway truck in about 2021. The company said in July it is developing an electric public transit bus.
