Mitsubishi Motors Corp. plans to use the Geneva auto show on March 3 to unveil a small SUV concept equipped with the company's latest plug-in hybrid propulsion system.
The company has released a teaser image of the car, which suggests the vehicle is a variant of the XR-PHEV concept presented in 2013 at the Paris, Tokyo and Los Angeles auto show.
MMC says the front-drive vehicle was developed to deliver lower carbon dioxide emissions than any other vehicle in its class. The concept showcases the company's "@earth technology" product development philosophy, which aims to balance vehicle and environmental performance.
Mitsubishi calls the concept a "dynamic urban crossover" with "athletic" styling that includes a sloping roofline, edgy side character lines and taillamps with a sharp profile.
The company has not commented on would-be production plans for the small SUV. But the concept takes aim at the global automotive market's fastest-growing segment.
