Mitsubishi Motors Corp. says it is investigating whether its cheating on fuel economy ratings for four minicars includes nine other models too.
The company blames the issue on a supervisor who felt pressured to meet ambitious fuel efficiency targets. An independent probe now underway is expected to produce a final report in August.
MMC’s sales of minicars in Japan has plunged 45% since the cheating was disclosed in mid-April. The company admits it began falsifying fuel economy data 25 years ago.
