Daimler AG's Mercedes-Benz brand outsold rival Audi in January-February to regain leadership in the country's luxury-car segment, The Economics Times reports.
Mercedes volume surged 40% to nearly 3,600 units in the period compared with 3,200 for Audi. BMW AG, which does not report sales figures for India, sold an estimated 1,500 vehicles.
The newspaper notes that Mercedes lost the top position to BMW in 2009, and BMW was surpassed by Audi in 2012. For years those three brands have controlled almost 90% of India's luxury-car sales.
