Daimler AG’s Mercedes-Benz brand hiked sales in India by 12% to 8,100 units in the first half of 2018.
Last year Mercedes sold 11,900 cars and crossover vehicles in India, easily surpassing rivals BMW (9,800 units) and Audi (7,900) in the country’s luxury car market. The company offers an expanding array of cars, SUV/crossover vehicles and AMG performance models.
Mercedes assembles its most popular model in India, the C-Class sedan and its AMG performance variant, at a factory in Chakan. Demand for the brand’s crossovers rose 16% in the first half, led by the compact GLC.
