Daimler AG will unveil its updated Mercedes-Benz A-Class small car at the Frankfurt auto show in September.
Exterior styling tweaks will include a redesigned grille, new front and rear bumpers, updated headlights and new light-emitting-diode tail lamps, according to Leftlane News. Among the interior enhancements the online publication lists are LED ambient lighting, a next-generation infotainment system and wi-fi Internet connectivity, a first for Mercedes.
Engine choices are expected to be carried over from the current A-Class. But the top-end A45 AMG model will get a souped-up version of the current turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder mill, boosting output 6% to 375 hp. Leftlane says the engine also could be used in Mercedes-AMG CLA 45 and GLA 45 models.
In Europe, the facelifted A-Class compact hatchback will compete against the Audi A3 and revised BMW 1 Series. There are no plans to sell the A-Class in the U.S.
