Mazda Motor Corp. believes its rollout of engine technologies that can hike fuel efficiency 30% will boost operating profits by the same percentage.
Mazda debuted its latest SkyActiv-G engine advances in the Mazda3 small sedan earlier this year. The technology will spread to the CX-30 compact crossover vehicle due this summer.
The company appears likely to boost its operating profit to 105 billion yen ($955 million) in the fiscal year that began April 1, according to The Nikkei. The newspaper says revenue is expected to grow 4% to 3.7 trillion yen ($33.7 billion), as unit sales top 1.6 million cars and trucks.
Mazda is scheduled to report results on Thursday for the 2018 fiscal year that ended March 31. The company predicted earlier that its revenue for the period would advance 2% to 3.6 trillion yen ($32.7 billion), but net profit would plunge 51% to 55 billion yen ($500 million).
