Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. tells India’s Economic Times it has begun with Ford Motor Co. about tapping Ford’s retail networks in Thailand, Russia and South Africa.
Managing Director Pawan Goenka tells ET those discussions, which were first revealed in March, are still at a “very initial stage.” The newspaper notes that Mahindra already has shared its dealer network in India to help Ford build sales in India’s second- and third-tier markets.
A year ago the two companies announced a three-year initiative to find ways to collaborate on advanced mobility, connectivity and electric car projects in India. In March they agreed to develop an electric vehicle and at least one SUV for the local market.
