Geely Automobile Holding Co.’s Lynk & Co. unit will supply cars to Cyan Racing next year for use in the FIA World Touring Car (WTC) series.
The 500-hp racer will be based on Lynk’s upcoming 03 midsize sedan, which will launch next year in China and Europe. The carmaker released images of a concept vehicle that is expected to be the basis for the 03 TCR race car and a future street variant.
Cyan also is owned by Geely. The team, which previously was known as Polestar Cyan Racing, won the 2017 World Touring Car Championship title in the last year of the series.
In the new WTC series, the 03 TCR will compete against Alfa Romeo, Audi, Cupra, Honda, Hyundai, Peugeot and Volkswagen models.
Lynk’s first model, the 01 crossover vehicle, was launched late last year. The smaller 02 crossover is due next year. All of the vehicles ride on Geely’s Compact Modular Architecture that also carries the Volvo XC40 crossover.
