Sales of General Motors Co.'s Cadillac luxury vehicles slid 3% to 15,200 units in the U.S. last month, figures from Autodata Corp. show.
Caddy's results contrast with its biggest foreign rivals, all of whom posts big gains in July. Volume jumped for BMW (+10% to 26,400 units), Mercedes-Benz (+15% to 29,400), Lexus (+19% to 27,300) and Audi (+12% to 14,600).
Even Ford Motor Co.'s struggling Lincoln brand reported a 14% jump to 7,900 units in July.
Last year Cadillac sales zoomed 22% to 182,500 units. But the brand's volume in January-July this year fell 2% in a market that expanded 5%. Some analysts opine that Cadillac's relatively thin model lineup (three cars and two SUV/crossovers) is a likely a factor.
