Beginning next week, London will charge drivers of older cars, vans and motorcycles £12.5 ($16) to gain access to the city center’s “ultra-low emission zone.”

The fees will apply to gasoline-fueled cars that don’t meet Euro 4 standards or better, and diesels that don’t meet current Euro 6 standards, Reuters reports. Most drivers also will be required to pay a separate £11.5 ($15) congestion fee to enter the same zone during workday hours Monday through Friday.

The charges are part of what London Mayor Sadiq Khan describes as the “boldest plan of any city on the plant” to improve its air quality.
