Canadian parts supplier Linamar Corp. has agreed to buy French aluminum castings maker Montupet SA for €771 million ($878 million) in cash. Reuters reported the impending deal earlier this week.
Linamar CEO Linda Hasenfratz notes her company’s expertise in finished machining complements Montupet’s casting capabilities. The offer for the closely held Montupet of $81.78 per share is backed by the company’s board.
Montupet supplies such components as aluminum cylinder heads to Audi, BMW, PSA, Daewoo, Ford, General Motors, Nissan, Renault and Volvo. Linamar, which has grown primarily through acquisitions, makes precision metal powertrain components.
