Tesla Motors Inc. says its new Model S 100D sedan can travel 335 miles per charge, the best rating by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for an all-electric vehicle.

The new rating is 20 miles greater than the previous EV range champ, Tesla’s top-of-the-line Model S P100D. Both vehicles are fitted with a 100-kWh lithium-ion battery pack.

The 2017 Honda Clarity fuel cell vehicle has the longest range of any U.S. zero-emission vehicle at 366 mpg.

In addition to being more efficient, the $92,500 Model S 100D is about 30% cheaper than the P100D. But the latter is much faster off the line, trimming the 100D's zero-to-60 mph time of 4 seconds to just 2.5 seconds.

Tesla also added a 100D option for its Model X crossover vehicle that hikes driving range 2% to 295 miles.
