Kia Motor Corp. says its Soul electric vehicle will be eco-friendly in powertrain and interior materials.
The Soul EV, which will go on sale in the U.S. in 2014, will be powered by a 109-hp, 210-lb-ft electric motor and have a range of about 120 miles. Kia says the car can accelerate from zero to 62 mph in 12 seconds and reach a top speed of 87 mph.
A 27-kWh polymer battery pack will provide energy for the EV. Kia says the car can be fully charged in five hours using a 240-volt outlet.
Inside the cabin, the vehicle is fitted with eco-friendly interior components and trim made from recycled materials, including bio plastic, foam and fabric, Kia says.
