Investor Confidence Declines in Germany
Optimism among analysts and institutional investors in Germany about their country's economy fell by 2.7 points from June to July to -19.6 points, according to the Center for European Economic Research (ZEW). The index has historically averaged 24 points.

Optimism among analysts and institutional investors in Germany about their country's economy fell by 2.7 points from June to July to -19.6 points, according to the Center for European Economic Research (ZEW). The index has historically averaged 24 points.
July marks the third consecutive month of decline in investor confidence, which dropped 12.6 points in May and plunged 27.7 points in June. But ZEW President Wolfgang Franz notes that the decline is "flattening out gently."
A separate index that reflects sentiment about the current domestic economic situation dropped by 12.1 points to a two-year low of +21.1 in July.
The center's indicator of economic sentiment for the eurozone declined 2.2 points to -22.3 in July, while the index of confidence in current conditions in the region remains nearly unchanged at -72.9 points.
