International Automotive Components Group has opened a 290,000 sq-ft interior systems manufacturing plant in Opole, Poland.
IAC invested $20 million in the facility, which will employ 550 workers. The site will serve as the company’s center of excellence for crafted cut-and-sewn and hand-wrapped components, starting with premium instrument panels.
IAC predicts that global demand for wrapped interior products (using leather, artificial leather and premium textiles) will increase 38% over the next three years, jumping from 6 million to 9 million units per year by the end of the decade. The increase will be driven in part by the trend of shared mobility and automated-driving vehicles, according to the supplier.
