Steve Shannon has quit as vice president of marketing for Hyundai Motor Co.'s American operations.

Shannon was GM's executive director of marketing for Cadillac before leaving in a management shakeup to join Hyundai in 2010.

At Hyundai, Shannon succeeded Chris Perry, who had left eight months earlier to become GM's vice president of U.S. marketing. Shannon was hired by CEO John Krafcik, who left Hyundai at the end of last year.
