Mark Hall, who headed marketing in Europe for Hyundai Motor Co. over the past year, has left the company.
Hyundai says Allan Rushforth, its chief operating officer for the region, will step in to handle Hall's job until the company names a permanent replacement.
Hyundai's sales in Europe are down 2% this year in a market that has expanded 7%. The company's volume through the first four months of 2014 was 144,600 units compared with 146,900 in January-April last year, according to trade group ACEA.
Except for Honda, whose European sales are down 8%, Hyundai's Asian-brand rivals including affiliate Kia Motors have posted sales gains ranging from 7% to 28% so far this year.
Hall joined Hyundai in 2010 from Toyota's Lexus brand in Europe. Previously the Englishman held marketing and sales positions with Toyota in the region.
