Ferrari SpA will debut its new 900-hp hybrid supercar at the Detroit auto show in January, Automotive News Europe reports.
Ferrari has not revealed the name of the two-seater, which will replace the company's 3,000-lb Enzo supercar. Italian media speculate the model, to be the brand's most powerful, will be called the F70.
The company unveiled the new car's carbon-fiber-reinforced chassis at the Paris auto show two weeks ago. Ferrari says the design is 20% lighter and delivers 27% greater torsional rigidity than the Enzo platform.
The new two-seater's powertrain will consist of a new naturally aspirated V-12 gasoline engine, 100-hp electric motor and lithium-ion battery, according to ANE. The online newspaper says the hybrid system, including power control module, weighs about 150 kg.
The car will feature a kinetic energy recovery system inspired by the KERS system used in Ferrari's Formula One race cars. Ferrari told ANE in April that the technology, dubbed HY-KERS, would improve acceleration and boost fuel efficiency about 40%.
