Honda May Build Some Plug-in Accords in U.S.
Honda Motor Co. may begin making the upcoming plug-in hybrid version of the Accord midsize sedan in America as early as 2015, Nikkei Sangyo Shimbun reports.

Honda Motor Co. may begin making the upcoming plug-in hybrid version of the Accord midsize sedan in America as early as 2015, Nikkei Sangyo Shimbun reports.
Honda chief engineer Chitoshi Yokota tells the Tokyo-based business daily that local production is key to achieving significant U.S. sales of the plug-in Accord. He notes that the strong yen will make the Japan-made version expensive.
For that reason Yokota predicts low initial sales of the car, which makes its American debut early next year. He says purchasing or making the vehicle's motor and battery in the U.S. is especially important to reducing the overall cost.
