Honda Motor Co. is launching a multimedia ad campaign in the U.S. to urge its customers to respond to the company's recall of defective Takata Corp. airbag inflators.

The initiative, which will begin on Monday, will include sponsored Facebook posts, full-page color ads in more than 120 newspapers and 30-second radio spots in more than 110 markets. Ad will be in English or Spanish, depending upon the market's prevalent language.

Honda says the campaign will target Honda and Acura owners in 11 states and U.S. territories noted for consistently high humidity and ambient temperatures. Both factors are believed to cause the Takata inflators to degrade over time, then explode when activated.
