Honda Motor Co. expects all of its European sales will come from hybrid and pure electric vehicles by 2022, three years earlier than previously planned.

The accelerated rollout will help Honda meet more stringent regulations in the region. The standards will require a carmaker’s new vehicle fleet to average 95 g/km of carbon dioxide emissions.

Under the plan, Honda will introduce six new electrified models over the next three years, starting with the hybrid-electric Jazz/Fit small car (pictured) unveiled today. Other upcoming models include the Honda “e” electric city car and hybrid versions of the HR-V crossover and Civic compact car. The CR-V crossover and NSX supercar already have hybrid drivetrains.

The carmaker also announced a new “e:Technology” umbrella brand for its electrified passenger cars, motorcycles and power systems.
