Jeffrey Massimilla, currently head of cybersecurity for General Motors Co., will expand his role next month to include global vehicle safety.
The 40-year-old will add the latter role on Sept. 1 upon the retirement of Jeffrey Boyer, 61, who has served as GM’s first global vehicle safety chief. The position was created in March 2014 in the wake of the company’s ignition switch recall crisis. Boyer has been with GM for 43 years.
In his new role, Massimilla will have global responsibility for the safety of GM vehicle systems, validation of safety performance and such post-sale activities as recalls.
