GM Recalls 1 Million Pickup Trucks to Fix Seatbelts

General Motors Co. is launching a global recall to repair faulty seatbelts in 1 million of its Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra 1500 fullsize pickup trucks.
About 90% of the affected 2014-2015 model pickups are in the U.S., including 3,000 still on dealer lots. GM says the steel cable that connects the driver’s seatbelt to the vehicle can flex, fatigue and separate over time.
Dealers will revise the cable’s shield and attachment assembly or replace the seatbelt’s tensioner system as needed. GM reports no injuries related to the problem, which was discovered through an analysis of warranty data.
