General Motors Co. now expects the American light vehicle market to reach 14 million-14.5 million units, up 500,000 units from its previous forecast. The market totaled 12.8 million units in 2011.
Light vehicle sold at a 14.4 million-unit annual pace in March and April.
GM expects strength in U.S. manufacturing and retail sales to boost job creation this year, thus spurring consumer confidence and boosting auto sales.
