General Motors Co. is adding 159,600 older Buick and Pontiac models to an earlier recall of some 269,600 vehicles with headlamp relays that could overheat and prevent the low-beam headlamps from working.
The newly added vehicles are 2005 model Buick LaCrosse and 2007 model Pontiac Grand Prix sedans.
If the module fails, the car's low beams and daytime running lights will stop working intermittently or permanently, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The module does not affect the high-beam headlamps, turn signals or side marker lamps.
The earlier recall addresses the same problem in various 2006-2009 model LaCrosse and Grand Prix models, plus Buick Rainier crossovers, Chevrolet Trailblazer SUVs, GMC Envoy SUVs and Saab 9-7X crossovers.
