Nissan Motor Co. has reassigned Hari Nada, a lawyer and senior vice president who last year called attention to alleged misconduct by then-Chairman Carlos Ghosn.

Nada (pictured) will now serve as a senior advisor overseeing special projects and report to acting CEO Yasuhiro Yamauchi. Yesterday Nissan’s board nominated 16-year veteran Makoto Uchida to take over as permanent CEO, pending shareholder approval.
Nissan says it reassigned Nada to avoid suspicion that he himself might be involved in a new scandal relating to an executive compensation scheme that contributed to the resignation of CEO Hiroto Saikawa last month.
An internal investigation found no evidence of wrongdoing by Nada, according to the company. It says the new assignment will enable to focus on forthcoming legal action against Ghosn, whose trial is scheduled to begin next spring.
