CEO Carlos Ghosn tells the Financial Times that the Renault-Nissan alliance won't reach its target of selling 1.5 million electric cars until at least 2020 four years later than expected.
The two companies have sold more than 120,000 EVs in the past five years, including 85,000 Nissan Leaf sedans.
Ghosn insists the main impediment to EV sales growth is a lack of charging stations, not the price of the vehicles or worries about the limited range of electrics. He concedes that the necessary infrastructure has developed slower than expected.
